The "Fundación Solventia" (Solventia Foundation) came into being in February 2005 on the initiative of Mr. Conrado Truan, one of the founding partners of the law firm Diaz-Bastien & Truan, who was convinced that private initiatives could serve to develop educational and welfare activities that contribute to shaping a more just and united society, and that ensure the sustainable social, economic, scientific and cultural development of future generations.

To achieve these goals, one of the main objectives set by the Foundation is the development of initiatives in the field of education, considering that progress is achieved only with proper training and critical sense. Hence, the Foundation grants scholarships to children or young people with talent and a desire for self-improvement who, due to a lack of economic resources, cannot reach the level of competitiveness that society demands.

As the information society is under constant evolution, it is essential to develop initiatives that allow the acquired knowledge to be updated. For this reason the Solventia Foundation also promotes research projects and the development of outreach activities, such as forums, seminars or courses, that delve deeper into topics of current interest to encourage specialisation and the exchange of professional experiences with the business, political, economic or academic world.

For the Solventia Foundation these initiatives are particularly important when the beneficiaries belong to disadvantaged groups, either because they are physically or mentally challenged or because their social circumstances make it difficult to obtain the resources necessary to ensure economic independence, quality of life and personal development. For this reason the Foundation makes a special effort to develop its own programmes or to participate in other initiatives that facilitate the full integration of these groups, both socially and in respect of employment.
The activities developed for the attainment of these objectives are carried out directly by the Foundation or with the collaboration of individuals making generous contributions or of associations, foundations, businesses or professional people that are committed to fulfilling their corporate social responsibility. This is true of the legal firm of Diaz-Bastien & Truan, which participates in the development and management of various Solventia Foundation projects through the donation by their expert lawyers of hours of professional services.

The Solventia Foundation is registered on the Foundations’ Registry of the Community of Madrid, page 414, entry 1, volume XCVII, sheet 201-214 and is governed by the articles of association according to Law 50/2002, of 23 December, and subject to the tax system established under Law 49/2002, of 23 December, regarding non-profit entities.
